The European Federation of Periodontology held Perio Master Clinic 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan on 6-7 March, attracting almost 800 participants from 56 countries, with over 550 attending on-site. The hybrid two-day event combined lectures, clinical case discussions, and video-based sessions to address the integration of periodontal and restorative treatment.

First day: periodontal and restorative integration

Opening chair Professor Cavid Ahmedbeyli emphasised the importance of collaboration and continuous education in advancing periodontal care. The first day explored the relationship between periodontal and restorative treatment in achieving optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes. Sessions covered surgical and restorative strategies for smile enhancement, management of stage III and IV periodontitis, and treatment of multiple adjacent gingival recessions. A highlight was a video-based clinical session demonstrating treatment of the anterior maxilla using surgical crown lengthening combined with minimally invasive restorative approaches. The interactive format encouraged questions and exchanges between speakers and attendees.

Second day: complex interdisciplinary cases

The second day focused on the management of complex interdisciplinary cases. Sessions addressed the challenges of treating the terminal dentition, approaches to bone defects in the anterior maxilla, and strategies for managing complex orthodontic-periodontal cases. The programme concluded with a video clinical presentation on single-tooth replacement through tooth autotransplantation. Scientific chair Professor Mariano Sanz noted that the case-based discussions and video sessions allowed clinicians to explore real treatment challenges and solutions applicable to daily practice, while highlighting the value of interdisciplinary collaboration.
