Bulgaria's dental technician profession now has a national electronic register, following a unanimous vote at the Third Regular Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Dental Technicians (BAZ) on 30 November 2025 in Sofia. The decision links the right to practise as a dental technician to registration in the system, making enrollment a formal condition of professional practice rather than a voluntary step. The new framework includes both a national register and regional registers, with defined rules for registration, administration, and oversight. The online register is already operational and shows registered dental technicians by region, with individual entries that can include continuing professional education activity, registration details, and professional status. For dental professionals working with Bulgarian dental laboratories or technicians, this register offers a way to verify credentials and professional standing directly. The development also reflects a wider pattern across Europe of professionalising dental technology through structured registration systems.
