CED adopts three policy documents at November 2025 General Meeting
Three new CED policy documents directly address ageing patients, sports injury prevention, and professional safety in conflict zones.
The Council of European Dentists (CED) held its biannual General Meeting in Brussels on 14 November 2025, adopting three policy documents covering ageing and oral health, sports mouthguards, and medical neutrality in conflict zones. The meeting was chaired by CED President Dr. Freddie Sloth-Lisbjerg and attended by member and affiliate member associations from across Europe. Professor Chris Vernazza presented findings from the EU Horizon Europe-funded PRUDENT project, which is developing a framework to close gaps between research, policy, and practice in oral health financing. The CED White Paper on Ageing and Oral Health calls on policymakers and European Commission officials to create a dedicated oral health strategy for older adults and to improve education, training, and working conditions for the healthcare workforce serving this population. The Recommendation on Custom-Made Athletic Mouthguards urges wider adoption of protective devices in sport, noting that custom-made mouthguards and preventive oral care programs reduce the risk of traumatic dentofacial injuries, particularly in high-contact disciplines. The Statement on Violations of Medical Neutrality condemns deliberate attacks on healthcare professionals and health facilities in conflict zones. Board elections at the meeting returned Charlotte Heuzé, Miguel Pavão, and Katalin Nagy for three-year mandates, and appointed Christof Ruda of the Austrian Dental Association as the new CED Treasurer.
